A Glam Style That Makes Sense

To be or not to be glamorous from head to toe for the upcoming holidays. I know this is a major dilemma for most women so I’ve come up with a glam style that makes sense. The answer of course is to glam up! Depending on where you’re located, dressing for the weather is practical. If anyone tells you that it makes you less fashionable, it simply is not the truth. I’m dressing for warmth and comfort this year with a hint of fabulous.

Happy Holidays-The “Glasual Look”

No one wants to endure frostbite while trying to look like you just stepped off the fashion runway. Happy holidays, the “glasual look” is in effect. I’m introducing a term I’ve coined, “glasual.” It’s a combination of glamorous and casual pieces of clothing/shoes. The easiest way to achieve this look, although I think it’s pretty self-explanatory. You can pair a silk t-shirt with a pair of sequin joggers or a sequin top with a pair of jeans; as I did in this post. Just give it a try. You’ll get the hang of it in no time. Without further ado, I shall lead by example.

Holiday Mix And Match

For the holiday, mix and match your clothes with glam and casual pieces. I found this gorgeous top bursting with color on the sleeves paired with skinny jeans An over-the-knee boot with a bling-bling heel completes this look. Living Out My Fashion Dreams

Have you ever wondered what makes you tick? What gives you pure bliss while you’re doing it? Well, I’m living out my fashion dreams and having the best time of my life. I’ve created my own runway. For me personally, my love for writing and fashion originated from personality traits as a child. Growing up between the ages of five to eight, I loved playing dress up. Diana Ross inspired as you may well know, if you’ve read some of my other posts. Writing would arise from my favorite pastime as a kid…reading. I would get comfortable on my bean bag and cuddle with a book. Imagination is so underrated.

During my adolescent years, I dabbled in drama, drill team, and dance. There was so much excitement surrounding these activities. The adrenaline rush I received was a natural high. Singing found its way into my group of things/activities that put a smile on my face, again Diana Ross inspired. Fortunately, I recently found out that my Great-Grandmother was a performer (dancer). I guess she plays a role in this as well. It’s written all over my Instagram these traits. I’m afraid I’ve left a trail of evidence.

The Writer In Me

The writer in me didn’t emerge until my late twenties. It took a minute for me to embrace it and to realize that I was a writer. The fun part about this entire experience of connecting the dots from my past to now, is knowing that I’m the same girl. What gave me joy then is still replenishing my spirit. It feels good to know that I have those “good ole’ days” with me. I want my readers to do the same, connect the dots and replenish your spirit. That joy, peace, and laughter it’s with you. First things first, I’ve got a show to put on just for you!

Fashion Is Entertainment

Fashion is entertainment! I think that’s the understatement of the year. I spent awhile looking for a sweater dress that wasn’t too heavy. My choice is lightweight and fashionable. Nasty Gal’s belted mini dress in brown is a great fall piece to add to your closet. It wouldn’t be right if I didn’t do this dress justice by picking a fierce pair of heels. Watch out Catwoman! To make my outfit complete, I purchased a pair of Riser Boots by Chinese Laundry from Designer Shoe Warehouse (DSW). The color is brown/black Tiger…gorgeous. I hope you ladies love these fall colors! Add Sparkle To Your Holiday Wardrobe

On your mark, get set, and go add some sparkle to your holiday wardrobe this season. Are we ready to have fun with our closets yet? I hope the answer is yes because I have a holiday fashion look that you may like. The holidays are approaching quickly but before the hustle and bustle is upon us, let’s exhale and put these next three months into perspective. The end of the year is a time for reflection. You should put emphasis on surrounding yourself with family, friends, and plenty of laughter. When you smile or laugh, there’s a natural sparkle that comes across your face. The only real dilemma, besides our dinner menu is carving out time to find an affordable, stylish, and comfortable outfit.

The Holiday Edition-Sparkle

That’s right! It’s the holiday edition and it’s time to sparkle. When you think of sparkle what comes to mind? Maybe sequins? I know for some folks that may be overkill but I’ve never met a sequin I didn’t like. For a more subtle look, my suggestion is metallic. It’s a perfect alternative to sequins, with a hint of shimmer. In this post, I’m wearing a gold metallic bodysuit and faux leather high-waist leggings The textures match for a soft look, yet the leggings are edgy creating a great contrast.

My Holiday Shoes

For this shoot, I’m wearing my holiday shoes. One of my favorite brands for shoes, Jessica Simpson. It’s a 4 1/4 inch heel, black faux suede mule with two cross straps. How far-fetched is the thought of stress-free shopping? A few days ago, while watching my local news, a poll was displayed showing that most women experience stress when shopping for that perfect outfit. If it’s an after five event, the desire to be attire appropriate only increases the stress. Let’s face facts, women dress for other women. It’s absolutely nothing wrong in doing so. I’m in the business of having women like my clothing and shoe selections but dressing for my own contentment is important as well. Think of it this way, your outfit should compliment your personality. No shrinking violets on my watch so here’s a few tips to minimize stress while shopping.

Less Stress Equals More Outfits

The first tip to jump-starting the wave of less stress equals more outfits; online shopping. Shop online and avoid traffic, large crowds, and parking lots. Tip number two, take the mannequin’s outfit. I’ve done this a few times. It saves time and eliminates stress. Tip number three, mimic your favorite celebrity. Take a peek at their after five and casual wear. My personal favorites are Sanaa Lathan and Angela Bassett. The last tip of the day, take a trusted individual with you, who knows you inside and out. This person won’t steer you wrong and will encourage you to be you. That is our ultimate objective.

It’s time for stress-free shopping with me. I found an inexpensive over-sized black sweater The only thing negative is the shedding but it makes up for it in cuteness. The Top Three Womens Shoe Prints For Fall Season

I’m absolutely ready for cooler weather so I’ve compiled a list of the top three womens shoe prints for fall season. It’s a short list of fashionable shoes. The first two are under the category of stylish heels and the third is more of a trendy heel. I normally select my heels first and then look for an outfit to compliment my stilettos. How many of you choose your shoes before the outfit? I would love to know the statistics. Whatever the order, the main goal is having confidence when making your selections. Who doesn’t feel great in a new pair of heels? Having said that, let’s take a look at my list. The number one style on my list is the tortoise shell print. This design has rich tones of brown and is considered a showstopper.

Next, the faux cow print is an elegant look in the black/white and shades of brown. The Duchess of Sussex was photographed in this style. She looked amazing! If by any chance, you want to be more adventurous with this, there are brighter colors available .

I’m back at last with a glimpse into Zendaya’s shoe line. She’s a talented singer and actress from Oakland, California. Let’s add fashionista to her list of accomplishments. Zendaya is a household name among tweens, teens, and millennials. She belongs to an impressive list of successful Disney actors. Her most popular series, Shake It Up ran for three seasons.

First Name Only

Most know her by her first name only. Zendaya has also transitioned to the big screen, making her debut with Spider-Man. Fashion wise she has peaked my interest with her red carpet appearances.

Fashionably Under A Rock

I have been living fashionably under a rock. Zendaya’s shoe line launched in 2016 so I’m off to a late start but better late than never. Working closely with her stylist Law Roach, they designed desirable shoes with affordable prices. I might add that her shoes are ageless. They’re youthful for a twenty-year old as well as sophisticated for the over forty crowd.

Living In The Moment

Who’s guilty of not living in the moment? I’ll take a pause from my writing so I can raise my right hand. Going through the daily grind of life, I subsequently forget to exhale. Like most women, we wear many hats and take on that “superwoman” title. Before you know it, a week has gone by and it’s just a blur. Life has a funny way of confirming what you already know to be true. My daughter and I went shopping the day after I wrote this in my notebook. She had no idea what my topic was for this post. I’m a fast walker so I turned around and asked her why she was walking so slow. “KJ” our nickname for her, looked at me and said, “I’m enjoying the moment.” It almost brought me to tears. I held my composure and smiled at my daughter. I was hesitant to write about this subject until that special moment occurred.

A Busy Bee Living In The Moment

As a wife, mother, and entrepreneur I’m a busy bee. To all the working moms including stay-at-home moms look at the glass as half full with a few ice cubes as your special moments. We can’t turn back the hands of time but we can be present and cherish the simple things in life. The fact that I’m able to share my love for writing is a moment that I embrace each time I hit the publish button. When it comes to stilettos, clothes, and sales…well that’s my little piece of heaven. Inhale…now exhale.

Name A Place and Time

I can’t name a place and time when I was more excited than now. This month I’m turning the big 5-0! Looking back I’m teary-eyed…happy tears of course. Where has the time gone? A husband, three kids, and two grandchildren later; sums it up as time well spent. Speaking on behalf of the fifty and fabulous club, we rock! However, there is a downside in turning fifty. There are folks who offer their unsolicited advice on how to spend your time as a fifty year-old. I don’t hear those people at all and neither should you.

Fifty and Feeling Free As A Bird

I’m turning fifty and feeling free as a bird. Hey, it’s one of the major perks. I don’t accept labels from others period. I see an overwhelming amount of toxic comments on social media in regards to older women. What saddens me the most, the divisive rhetoric is from other women. Turning fifty does not negate how long my skirt should be or the length of my hair. If I choose to wear my hair down to my knees, then I shall. That would be an awesome selfie! A Gift of Words For My Mother

As Mother’s Day approaches, I’ve struggled to find that perfect gift. Instead I will give my mother the gift of words. The simple things in life are treasured the most. My childhood was absolutely the best because of her. In addition, we’ll go out to dinner like we do every year. The main conversation being how much of a handful my brother and I were.

Phenomenal Mother

My mother and father divorced when I was five. The fact that I was raised in a single-parent home, allowed me to witness the meaning of a phenomenal woman. I was the only child for nine years until my baby brother came home. We always had a roof over our heads, food, clothing, and most important an attentive mother. She’s 68 years young presently and for half of her life she’s held down two jobs. I’m extremely proud to be her daughter, knowing that my daughters will look to their grandmother as a role model as well. She is the epitome of strength, dignity, kindness, and wisdom.

I’m serving up some neon inspiration in this post. Although I resisted the neon craze, my shoe collection is in dire need of some personality. That’s not to say that every trend needs to be in your closet. It’s important to make your own style, by adding or taking something from it. There are a few trends I have completely ignored. They look absolutely stunning on other folks but it’s just not for me. If you can’t imagine yourself in a certain type of clothing or the type of social function that would be suitable, then don’t purchase it.
