It’s time to shake things up a bit so I’m making boutique moves. As a devoted online shopper of major retailers, I want to highlight smaller business owners who are just as stylish and affordable as their counterparts. Many of them have brick-and-mortars and some operate out of their homes. Here’s to finding new deals and supporting the American Dream of entrepreneurship.

A Trendsetting Boutique

My latest purchase is from a New Orleans based shop called Shop With Piink. A trendsetting boutique established in 2014 with budget-friendly women’s clothing and accessories. Her motto is “Looking Fab, Without Breaking the Bank!” She also offers customer appreciation deals. I absolutely love this! I purchased a vibrant, striped, and comfortable jumpsuit for $30 s/h was $7.65. It was a no-hassle shopping experience from start to finish. A Mom Riding The Dream

How many of you ladies have a vivid memory of your twenties? What I recall is everything being fast-paced and done on a whim. I was a mom riding the dream. My firstborn arrived two months before I turned 20. He was more than a blessing in many ways. Life began as a single-mom. That led to a balancing act of motherhood and squeezing in time for a social life as well.

Those times were for sure a roller coaster ride. Speaking of rides, when I managed to have a little free time I was on the back of a Harley. Imagine trying to get to know someone while riding a motorcycle. Still, I didn’t hesitate to throw on my “daisy dukes” to hit the road. If only for an hour or so I managed to recharge my batteries. It made me a better mom.

Those were some of my fondest memories of my twenties. Until I hopped on a motorcycle one summer day and my leg brushed up against a hot pipe. Although I have a permanent scar from my riding days, I still have that “biker babe” in my spirit. Getting back on that bike is synonymous with the good and bad times in life. No matter what, I’m going to keep riding the dream. You know what else I like to dream about? Stilettos and clothes! I’ve added a few more items to my closet.

A Mom’s Wardrobe

I haven’t worn a leather number in a long time but when I saw this dress my dry spell was over. As a mom, this is my dream dress. Leather puts me in the mind of my “biker babe” days. I give my stamp of approval to add this to your wardrobe. My New Crush

I hate to admit it but my new crush was made just for me. How many of you ladies can remember your first crush? The first boy that won my heart was in second grade. His name was Terrance. He had the cutest smile and afro. Sadly, I don’t think he ever noticed me unless we were playing kickball at recess. Oh believe me, I tried to get his attention while making a fool of myself. When it was my turn to kick the ball, I would run towards it like a raging bull. Apparently, I thought boys liked girls that exhibited amazing strength. That didn’t work out too well for me because I missed the entire ball every time. Then the unthinkable happened, he transferred to another school before 4th grade started. In high school, I managed to have several crushes. There was Tony, Jesse, Michael, and Michael. One crush for each year. Almost married the last one but that’s a whole other story. Fast forward to today, my celebrity crush is none other than Idris Elba…sexual chocolate. It’s okay ladies, we can share him. Speaking of crushes, I believe the most important love of all is self-love. It’s the foundation for growth and harmony. Do you know what else I have love for? My guilty pleasure…stilettos.

Making Bold Moves

I’m so excited about the many ways I will challenge my creative juices; making bold moves for 2019. That six-figure contract hasn’t reached my desk yet but I’m remaining optimistic, putting in the work, and thinking outside of the box. Baby is no longer in a corner. I’ve made a few changes as far as taking taking pics. However, my first goal is always to inspire, enlighten, and put a smile on my readers face with my writing content. My plan is to showcase those little hidden treasures called boutiques. Supporting small business owners is important to me as well. It’s a new year but it’s the same Lisa. What about you? Are you ready to try something new or start your own business? Do it! Make a bold move or forever hold your peace. Truthfully speaking, there were many days I thought about giving up. If I validated myself solely off my social media I would have thrown in the towel a long time ago. When you know who you are and what your worth is double-tapping is irrelevant. The only thing that saved me is the fact that writing is my lifeline. I’m doing what I’m suppose to do. There were countless signs I missed in my twenties, that writing was my forte. I always say better late than never. For anyone that’s starting their entrepreneur journey on social media, please don’t fall into that rut of self-doubt. Just remember it gets better and you become bolder.

Business As Usual

It’s business as usual, as I honor my third choice of extraordinary women that I admire. She is none other than Kandi Burruss-Tucker. Her accomplishments are many: Grammy Award winner songwriter, singer, Broadway actress, and a successful entrepreneur. No ma’am that ain’t it. She’s also one of my favorite housewives on The Real Housewives of Atlanta reality show. Wow, I’m tired just from writing all of this. I don’t know how she does it but she does it damn well. A wife and a mom of 2, Kandi is superwoman. Last but not least, she is a philanthropist…a heart of gold. In my mind, Mrs. Burruss-Tucker is a mini Oprah. A platform for women to achieve entrepreneurship was established through her Bedroom Kandi company. I’m taking notes because I don’t think she’s slowing down anytime soon.

I Mean Business

I mean business as the New Year approaches and every cloud has a silver lining. My motto from this point on. Kandi has inspired me to keep re-inventing myself. I think about to a year ago when I self-published my first book. Becoming an author was my only dream. Once I reached my goal, thoughts of what to do next entered. Blogging was never on the list, in fact I pushed hard against the idea. It took me a year before realizing that I should give it a try. Thinking of Kandi, she would jump right in…fearless in pursuit of business opportunities. Once I figured out how to incorporate my love for storytelling and fashion, I fell in love. Speaking of love, Kand’s Tags Boutique is filled with something for everyone.

Bling Bling

A little bling, bling never hurt anyone. Right before Christmas, I headed on over to Tags Boutique online store. Geesh, if you’re not quick with your fingers you’ll miss out. Those clothes sell out like pancakes. I managed to grab a little silver number called Diamonds Dancing Dress, wrap style. Gorgeous dress, it was sold out in gold and black. You know I had to find a fly pair of stilettos to do this dress justice. My choice, a pair of Betsey Johnson Andi Glitter High Heel from Nordstrom Rack. I’m ready for the New Year and open to exploring opportunities that are waiting for me. Claim it and it shall be yours…self-made. Wishing everyone a prosperous Happy New Year…peace and love.

Ladies and gentlemen, a star is born. She reigns from the Bronx, New York. One of the most beautiful, talented, articulate, and stylish women of our time. Golden Globe Award and Tony Award winner, Ms. Diahann Carroll has graced our silver screen and Broadway stage with ease. Her body of work includes: songstress, supportive acting roles, and breaking barriers by becoming the first African American woman to headline a series…Julia.

Lasting Star Imprints

Throughout life you receive lasting imprints from people that inspire you. I remember in middle school, performing my first play. The name of the play was Dottie’s Dream, an adaptation of The Wizard of Oz. A star is born…I played the role of Dottie. Strangely enough, being a shy kid I accepted the role after the other girl bailed out. Having seen Diahann Carroll in action, I thought I had picked up a few of her techniques. The goal was to own that stage. This was my chance to show the world that I had acting chops too. Mind you it was only faculty, parents, and students but nonetheless I was ready. The experience was amazing and I remembered all my lines.

Bringing Glamorous Back

I’m bringing glamorous back with this look inspired by Ms. Diahann Carroll. One of the original fashionistas; tailored and overwhelmingly Hollywood. NastyGal’s “Dance Tonight Glitter Dress” paired with Macy’s International Concept nude ombre Kenjay d’Orsay heel. Legendary Glamorous Diva

You’re invited to revisit old school glam with me and pay homage to a few women in the entertainment industry. The admiration I have for the style and era of the 50’s and the 60’s is colossal. These women have paved the way effortlessly for generations to come. Old school glam is external and internal as well. You know the saying, ” you wear the clothes, don’t let the clothes wear you.” A dash of sophistication and a whole lot of humility is reminiscent of those days. My first choice, drum roll please…Ms. Diana Ross. She is the epitome of what I strive to be. Her compassion surpasses the glam to say the least. The gowns, heels, and the furs was so extra…dramatic. I absolutely love it!

The Glam Life

My fondest memory of the glamorous life of Diana Ross, was her breathtaking performance in Central Park. It started to downpour and she kept on singing. Ironically, not so glamorous becoming drenched in the rain. She exuded commitment and kindness. Although I was watching this unfold on television, those good vibes made it all the way to St. Louis. The impact of that moment has always remained with me…treasured.

Diva Status

This look is understated glam. I’ve paired a curve hugging red dress with a sophisticated heel…diva status. I’m wearing Fashionnova’s “Stop Staring At Me” rib dress. Fashion Fever Is Rising

My Diagnosis…Fashion Fever

The temperature is falling but fashion fever is rising. Is there a cure? Well, I hope not. I’m so giddy at this point, yet a wave of anxiety lurks in the corner as I anticipate the upcoming holiday deals. For me, being out of the loop is not an option. Ready or not the season is upon us and I feel like I’m already behind. To fret or not to fret is the question. For the most part, you want to be comfortable in your clothing and heels. The downside to that is a not so festive look. What’s the balance? I’d say loose clothing paired with a fly heel. Most times you’re house hopping during the holiday season and eating everything in sight. I plead the fifth on the prior statement. The employer sponsored parties are so major, just a buffet explosion of food, drinks, and desserts. Lycra will be your best friend so don’t leave home without it. For sure, the hottest topic will be; what type of shoes you’re wearing.

My Prescription Is eBay

When I started my YouTube channel I was obsessed with finding deals. Since I have chronic fashion fever, my prescription is eBay. Spending time on eBay is consuming unless you specifically know what you’re looking for. All in all, the experience is painless and worth it. For those that are not familiar with the online retailer, not only do they sale used items but brand new items as well. There are many small independent sellers and also major retailers that have eBay stores. Which leads me to my latest purchase. This one is a leopard beauty that I purchased from shoeclub21 eBay’s store. I’ve paired her with a simple comfortable black dress, an oldie but a goody. The boot is a pointed toe but the fit is complimentary to my feet. In layman terms, I can walk around and socialize in this stiletto without experiencing discomfort. Make A Statement With These Trendy Boots

Stylish Trendy Boots

I was so excited to see these shoes online and on sale, immediately thinking that I could make a statement with these stylish trendy boots. Just like a kid in a toy store, I was not taking my eyes off those stilettos. Typically, the goal is to stay away from trends. Particular styles/trends will resurface after a few years or never go out of style. That’s the shoe I need. The goal was to make a statement but sometimes that can and will backfire on you. I remember attending my first wedding at the age of around 18. This was an extravaganza for me even though I was only a guest. It’s so funny and embarrassing at the same time because I set out to make a statement. I knew absolutely nothing about the rules of etiquette pertaining to weddings. To this very day, I have questions for my Mom and Aunt who enabled me to overshadow the bride. Surprisingly, I can’t remember the shoes I wore but the dress is unforgettable. The dress at fault was a pale peach color, fishtailed, and sequinned. It only got worse because of the faux fur wrap that I borrowed from my Aunt. Lord have mercy! I really stole the limelight but not on purpose. It’s safe to say, this recent choice I’ve made won’t step on anyone’s toes.

Introducing the latest addition to my stiletto collection, faux all the way Nasty Gal’s “Snake Away Mesh Bootie.” As of this writing, available sizes are: 6,7, and 8. I’m extremely pleased and they are so comfortable to my surprise.

Subtle Look

I put together a more subtle look for an outfit that would contrast the boots. Fashionnova’s “Little White Lies Top.” What a beautiful ivory top. Last but not least, Love Culture’s “High Rise Solid Skirt” An above the knee taupe skirt, simple yet it makes a statement. Ladies go ahead and make a statement and create your fashion vision. Why not explore my options and satisfy my heel addiction? Shopping for stilettos… my favorite pastime. I’m from the Midwest, baseball is the preferred choice for a pastime. Go Cardinals! Fashion Nova’s Pat Down Pump is a classic style pointed toe. A 4.5 inch heel with a diagonal strap. Little girls are always playing dress-up but this heel is a bit high. Moms keep these on the top shelf because they’re appealing. The design of the shoe is asymmetrical, giving you a sassy angle across the top of your foot. Classy with a hint of finesse is the best way to describe it. I love a classy shoe with an element of surprise even more. In California, it’s common to see women at games in their heels.
